Pockets of Poverty

As much of D.C. has improved economically, there has been an increase in the concentration of areas of poor residents D.C. Pockets of Poverty Growing. This is one of those problems that tends to feed on itself - as poor people are forced to move into new areas that they can afford, they are more subject to crime and violence, and their children are in more danger also. Mayor Williams has done a good job improving conditions of the business community in D.C., but that is the easy part. The real challenge is to improve the conditions in areas where there is rampant crime and drug abuse.
