Democracy Starts at Home

While I am a bit skeptical about Bush's latest reasoning for the war in Iraq, it is an admiral goal. While it may take a long time to expand democracy around the world, the President can start expanding it here in D.C.

But of course the thing about democracy is that you can not control it, and may not always like the results, but that is just the way it is. The President will oppose statehood for D.C. because it will mean a bit more power to the Democrats. That reasoning is of course completely hypocritical - but I would not expect anything less from this president.
