Legalized Discrimination
The Senate is scheduled to vote on the Federal Marriage Amendment in July. It has nothing to do with "protecting marriage" and all about discrimination against gays. The text of the amendment make it clear that it aims to prevent not only same sex marriage but to deny any civil union as well. This would truly be a dark day in American history if the Senate approved an amendment to the Constitution that does nothing more than allow discrimination against homosexuals.
The amendment reads:
"Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution nor the constitution of any state, nor state or federal law, shall be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups."
