2 dead

"A 20-year-old man was shot to death yesterday near Eighth and T streets NW, one of two unrelated homicides in the District, police said.

Cortez Mayo of the 1700 block of Eighth Street NW suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Howard University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said Sgt. Joe Gentile, a police spokesman. The shooting occurred about 3:20 a.m., he said.

In the other case, police found the body of a 29-year-old man at 9:35 a.m. in the 4400 block of Sixth Place NE, Gentile said. The man died from blunt force trauma to the head, he said. Police would not release the man's name because family members had not been notified, Gentile said."
