Drive-by shooting kills teen in SW

"A teenager was killed and two others were wounded in a drive-by shooting yesterday afternoon at a Southwest Washington corner, D.C. police said. Several men were standing in the 1300 block of First Street SW, across from a city recreation center, about 12:30 p.m. when someone fired from a dark green Lincoln Continental, killing Gregory Kirkland, 18, of the 1400 block of Third Street SW, said 1st Police District Cmdr. Diane Groomes.
Kirkland, a high school student in Maryland who was visiting his mother, was hit in the arm and body and died at Washington Hospital Center. A 19-year-old was shot in the hip, and a 17-year-old was struck in the leg. Both were taken to hospitals, Groomes said. Many of the onlookers scattered after the shooting, and police found plastic bags of drugs at the scene, Groomes said. The shootings appeared to be 'a random drive-by,' she said."
