Fenty alone in supprt for gay marriage

On a position that could cost him votes, Fenty is standing on principle. When it comes to fundamental rights, you cannot compromise.

"D.C. Councilmember Adrian Fenty (D-Ward 4) has emerged as the only mayoral candidate so far to express full support for the legal recognition of same-sex marriage in the District." Washington Blade Online

UPDATE

I hope I did not speak too soon.

3 D.C. Hopefuls Back Civil Unions: "The question also appeared to put Fenty on the defensive. Last week, the Washington Blade, a gay weekly newspaper, reported that Fenty is the only candidate who has expressed full support for legal recognition of same-sex marriage in the District and that he would push a gay marriage bill, despite threats from Congress to overturn such legislation.Yesterday, before a church full of ministers, Fenty declined to use the words 'same-sex marriage,' and instead declared his support for 'civil unions.'"
