Man shot dead in NE

"A man was fatally shot and a woman was wounded yesterday morning as they stood on a street in Northeast Washington, D.C. police said. Patrick Carter, 29, whose address was not known, died after being taken to a local hospital with gunshot wounds. A 22-year-old woman suffered gunshot wounds to both arms and was expected to survive, police said. Her name was withheld because she is considered a witness. Two people apparently had approached the victims as they stood in the 1800 block of Corcoran Street NE shortly after 9 a.m., police said." WP
